Landry Meya Honored with Gold Medal of Civic Merit for Pioneering Efforts in DRC

In a moment of national recognition, Landry Meya stood before the Chancellery of National Orders of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), his name etched among those who have left an indelible mark on the country’s economic and social fabric.

Awarded the prestigious Gold Medal of Civic Merit, Meya was honored not just for his contributions to the mining sector but for his unwavering commitment to uplifting Congolese businesses and improving labor conditions across industries.

“A medal symbolizing perseverance, hard work, and support. Thank you all. This is just the beginning…,” declared Meya, his words a blend of gratitude and an unbroken resolve for the future.

A seasoned businessman and activist, Meya is the founder of Akata RDC, a company deeply involved in the mining supply chain, and president of the Association of Congolese Subcontractors.

Beside his business life, his role as an advisor to the minister of employment and labor in charge of the general labor inspectorate has placed him at the vanguard of efforts to reform work practices and strengthen labor laws.

This is urgent when the DRC is attempting to encourage domestic enterprise and engage Congolese companies in strategic global value chains.

Landry Meya, a fervent believer in economic sovereignty, has consistently fought for increased local operators’ engagement in the extractive industry.

His win is greater than the recognition of one man it is a nation’s commitment to honoring those individuals who spend their lives working in its progress.

When the clapping has faded, one fact is certain: this is just the beginning for Landry Meya.
